The Silent Killer.

May 30th 2008 01:45
By Darcy Saunders.

Imagine being a girl that has her own rights, lives her own way, and stands up for what she believes in, but gets abuse verbally, emotionally and physically for not following the crowd.

Amy Standard gets treated like this nearly every day.

Amy’s day will start off with an early morning to get on the computer and research on environmentalist’s studies and progress; she does this because she is right into ecology and fixing the environment for the future. After that she tries to catch up on some school work because she is struggling with VCE quite a bit. She will then sit down peacefully to have some breakfast while her mother is at work at the supermarket for an early start as a check out chick. “My job is very tiring, I wish I could spend more time with Amy but I need to support her with money, my husband takes good care of her anyway.” Suddenly her step dad walks in the room to yell at her for not doing the dishes last night while he sat and watched T.V. He tells her that she is hopeless and doesn’t have any respect for how hard he works and slaps her across the face. She silently weeps as he goes off to his job as a coal miner. Amy then goes to the bathroom to have a cold shower because her step dad has used all the hot water. Then she will go to the bathroom to cover the bruise on her eye with make up and then gets dressed ready for school. She walks to school in the pouring rain to arrive late and receive a detention. When she sits at her desk she looks down to find someone has engraved greenie, dog, dork all kinds of names all over the table. “Amy’s weird, she doesn’t talk to anyone in class I have sat next to her all year and haven’t heard her speak before, but then always see her protesting for dumb things.” She looks around to find half the class laughing at her and the other half pointing and gossiping at her eye. She ignores it and looks straight to the board and does her work. After the bell for lunch time she gets up and heads for the door, “Amy would you stay back please her” teacher Mr. Jakob’s says, Amy waits at his desk he walks over to her and says “your marks are very bad in this class” she tries to explain how she is struggling but he silences her. “I know a way we can fix this” says Mr. Jakob’s placing his hand on her thigh rubbing his hand up and down “no!” Amy screams and runs out of the room crying. She puts her books away, wipes away her tears and covers her face with her hair. Amy heads to the library, she finds it’s her only safe place to be, no people yelling at her and nothing being thrown at her. She spends her time in there with a few other kids that she doesn’t know at all, but finds as friends. After school she walks home where she is alone until 7pm because her mum and step dad are at work.

She walks into the bathroom and locks the door; she has a long hard look at herself thinking she is worthless and empty. She washes the make up off to see a big bruise and big baggy eyes from hardly any sleep. She sits down on the edge of the bath with a razor.
