Thank you for coming Mr. homeless guy.
How do you cope with been homeless?
Well devan it gets tough at times but you somehow manage. You just have to make do with what you have.
How long have you been homeless?
Ah I became homeless at the age of 16 when both of my parents died and I had no one to take care of me so I’ve probably been homeless for about 25 years.
What have you learned from being homeless for so long?
The main thing that I have learned from been homeless is that you have to make do with what you have and to never just waste anything. Such as food that’s laying around in bins and on the ground and also clothing or bit of material that you could make clothing out of.
Have you ever tried to get a job or even somewhere to stay?
Yes many times I’ve tried getting jobs and somewhere to stay but its just to hard with the cost of rent becoming so much and I just don’t have the money to be able to afford to go to university or tafe.
What jobs did you try and get and would you be able to describe the interview process?
I tried to get a few jobs at some restraints just as a chief but most of the employers wanted there chiefs to have a car and license witch I didn’t have and most of the employers knew I was homeless and didn’t want us sort of people working for them.
Does it scare you that you might die as a homeless man?
No not at all, I’ve grown up and spent most of my life as a homeless man so it doesn’t really worry me too much.
Do you have any regrets in life?
If there was any regrets that I had it would be never having a wife or children but other than that I don’t think I have any.
What are the good things that have come out of been homeless?
One of the main things that I have found that has been good is making new friends with people who are in your exact position. And been able to relate to them. Another good thing that has happened from been homeless is that I have taught myself a lot of new life skills that one day I would like to be able to teach to younger kids who are homeless.
Where almost out of time is there any last tips or things that you would like to say?
Ah I would like to say to anyone who is watching to make the most of everything you get and to always remember that you can’t have it all.
