Have We Moved On?

Have we moved on from the big poverty issue around the world? Do you think the live 8 concert and the annual 40hr famine will raise enough money to cure poverty? Are we starting to look away from the issue and look at others now poverty around earth is decreasing? Yet it could be years before poverty is stopped or down to safe numbers.
The public can’t do nearly enough as what a government of a nation of America would be able to do. Yet many nations are ignoring the fact that this issue, is well, an issue. 40 billion was spent on re-building poor and undeveloped communities with hospitals and schools. Even though 40 billion is a lot it could of easily be more but the public chooses to spend it on “more important things”.
America, spent 780 billion on their military needs, which if only one percent of that went towards poverty, it would have put every child into school. It still would have money left over.
Poverty is one of the most caused deaths in the world yet it isn’t recognised as much as it should be. 8 million people die every year due to absolute poverty. Half the world is considered to be poor. So why don’t we care as much as we should? These statistics are frightening. Poverty is every where in the world, some worst than others.
Poverties worst is in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia regions. These areas are very dry continents with a lack of water. South Asian areas are densely populated
We all just need to realise that this is a gradual process and it can’t just be fixed with a click of the finger. We have let poverty get into such a terrible stage that it will take time to fix. We just can’t forget about it for a moment because there are still lots of deaths occurring around the world.
